11 Beauty Hacks I Wish I’d Known Sooner

11 Beauty Hacks I Wish I’d Known Sooner

1. Whiten teeth naturally with strawberries

I’ve tried a lot of teeth whiteners in the past with decent results. One of my favorite ways to whiten my teeth is by combining a mashed strawberry with ½ teaspoon of baking soda. After you combine them, use a clean toothbrush to spread the mixture all of over your teeth. Let it sit for a minute and rinse out your mouth with water. This can be used repeatedly to help see whiter teeth.

2. Get instant beach waves with salt water

One of my favorite ways to get instant beachy waves is to use a salt water spray and then braid my hair. I take a clean spray water and add sea salt to clean water. I spray this all over my hair until it is damp and put it in two braids. Then I take a blow-dryer until my hair is dry and simply remove the braids! The result is awesome and I vary the look by sometimes using French braids instead of regular braids.

Another way to achieve this look is to put your hair in braids and run through them with a hair straightener. The heat will lock in the waves and when you take the braids out you’ll have nice waves.

3. Use makeup in different places

One of my favorite makeup hacks is to use makeup on different areas of the face than what it’s meant for. I like to use blushes and bronzers as a base for my eyeshadow, or simply as the eyeshadow itself. You can also use lipsticks and lip stains as cream blushes in a pinch.  This is super helpful for traveling or getting ready quickly.

4. Slightly warm your mascara

Before putting mascara on, put it in your bra or hold it up to a hair-dryer briefly to just warm it up a bit. This is helpful for mascara that is drying or just needs a boost. The heat will help the mascara perform better.

5. Use tape for winged eyeliner

Creating a wing with liquid eyeliner can be really difficult because it’s easy to mess up or smudge it. Adding a small strip of tape to your outer eye to create the exact shape you want makes it much easier to apply the eyeliner. This hack gives the eyeliner a much sharper and exact looking line.

6. Use Baby powder as dry shampoo

If you’re out of dry shampoo and in a hurry, use some baby powder in your hair instead. Baby powder is super absorbent and will soak up the excess grease in your hair. Just make sure to blend it in really good with your fingers and a hairbrush because of the white color.

7. Get rid of flyaway hairs with a toothbrush

To get rid of stubborn flyaway hairs around your face, take a clean toothbrush and spray it with hairspray. Then take the toothbrush and brush back the hairs into place. The brush will put the hairs in place where you want them and the hairspray ensure they stay in place and don’t get frizzy.

8. Create your own leave in conditioner

Leave in conditioner is perfect for a midday hair boost without having to wash your hair. Add regular conditioner to a clean spray bottle and then add cold water. Shake the bottle to combine both together really well. The mixture should be a watery conditioner. You can just spray this on for a conditioner boost throughout the day which will moisturize your hair and help avoid frizz and fly aways.

9. Dry your nails with ice water

Painting your nails can take forever when you need to let them dry fully before doing anything. After you’re done painting them and adding a top coat, let them dry for a minute under a fan. Adding them right after to cold water or ice water helps them dry almost instantly. I let my nails soak for usually about 5 minutes to ensure they are fully fry. This seriously speeds up the drying process.

10. Scrub dead skin with sugar

I like to exfoliate the skin on my lips 1-2 times a week to ensure that I remove all of the dead skin. To do this, I like to use a sugar scrub made of 1 teaspoon of sugar and a ½ teaspoon of honey. You can apply this with your fingers and rub gently, or use a clean toothbrush to rub the mixture gently around your lips. It really helps your lips feel smoother and remove dead skin.

11. Curl your eyelashes better

Before curling your eyelashes, heat the curler using a blow-dryer. You can just place the eyelash curler in front of the blow-dryer for a few minutes until it feels warm. This will help you get a better curl. You can also use the pump method when curling. Instead of one curl and holding it, use the curler to press down on the eyelashes and pump three times, then move to the middle of the eyelashes and pump another three times.
